For those who did not know, I attended a discipleship training school (DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) last spring before returning to Starkville at the end of August. This season was incredibly impacting on my life, and long before leaving Japan, I decided I wanted to return to staff at the base for the next two years. Upon returning home, I began this process by support raising, applying to become staff with the missions base there, and obtaining a visa to return.
It was also during this season that we began to pursue a vision to see prayer flood Starkville and the campus of MSU, and the idea for the first prayer burn came to mind. When we began the first prayer burn, I could not believe how exciting it was and how it was impacting the lives of those who walked through the doors! I was undoubtedly blessed to have played a role in something so wonderful, to see students from all walks coming together to pray nonstop, even if just for a short amount of time!
So as I prepare to depart once again for Japan on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012, the idea was presented to hold one last prayer burn (at least while I am here)! Unlike the other prayer burns, this one will have a specific purpose to pray for Japan for 24 hours. We are planning on beginning Friday, February 17th, at 4:00 pm, with corporate worship and prayer, and we will also close with Corporate Worship and Prayer on Saturday, February 18th, starting at 3:00 pm, to end the burn at 4:00 pm. The burn will be held at the MSU Wesley Foundation Cardwell Chapel located down the hall past the offices on the left when entering from Lee Boulevard. If you would like to participate, sign up here.
In previous prayer burns, it has been a goal to just have each slot filled; however, I would love it if not only every slot was filled but if multiple people were praying at any given time. May we rend the heavens with our prayers, paving the way for revival to Japan!
I thank God for all of you who have played a role in the previous prayer burns! Continue to carry the flame here for the years to come! You were made for it! All you have to do is say “Yes!” and live it out!
God Bless!
JP Corhern
